A new support group for people living with dementia, and their carers, held its first session on Wednesday 18 September 2024, with support from the community and partners.
Run by Canvey Island Primary Care Network and Sport for Confidence, the hub aims to provide access to a safe, therapeutic community space which promotes activity and wellbeing.
It will also provide the opportunity to gain in-person support and advice from health and social care professionals as well as an on-site Occupational Therapist.
The hub will be held at Waterside Leisure Centre on the third Wednesday of every month, and was launched thanks to a grant made by the Canvey Rotary Club.
The first session offered a boccia taster session, as well as advice and support from the Carers Intensive Support Service, Adult Social Care, the PCN and Sport for Confidence.
The next group will be held on Wednesday 16 October, from 12pm to 2pm at Waterside Leisure Centre. If you would like more information about how to get involved, you can contact the PCN’s Care Coordinator Jason, or Lucy from Sport for Confidence.
